About

Hi, I’m Cathy and welcome to my blog! I’m so glad you’re here.

A little bit about me:

I’m a bonafide Florida girl with Haitian roots.

My college sweetheart and I have been married for almost a decade and we have 3 beautiful girls. I love God, I love people and I enjoy things.

What’s in the name?

I really enjoy the simple and quiet life. At times, society tells us to do more things, have more stuff and do it fast. But I’ve realized that this life is a marathon not a sprint. So much happens at work, home, and in everyday life that it’s nice to create an atmosphere where things can get done little by little and step by step. Simple living to me means decreasing clutter, reusing or repurposing things that I have, having more flexibility in my budget to do the things I want, and spending more time with my family. This gives me peace of mind and joy in my heart. My hope is to inspire households to get out of debt, organize inexpensively, and update their home efficiently, beautifully, and simply.

My story

When James and I got married in our twenties, we did something very normal, we bought a house and a couple of cars while paying off our student loans. On top of that, we had kids shortly after. Reality hit us like a ton of bricks when we had to take on the role of homeowners, parents, and debtors. Life felt a bit chaotic. We had to manage our debts (which were many), we had to manage home projects and repairs (which were many), and our kids (which were many). We didn’t have a solid plan for our household and our handyman skills were not so handy. But by the grace of God, we planned, organized, and got our hands dirty so we can achieve our goals of being debt free and making our home fit our style little by little. I wanted to take you on an amazing ride of our lives, updating an outdated house on a budget, getting out of debt, and simple living.
